Lumidor - Anchor Field Tilbury
Commercial Sector
Now the site for 47 purpose built flats, Anchor Field is situated adjacent to the Tilbury Civic Square and was previously home to the old Leisure Centre which had been built in 1986.
Vandalism
When the centre closed its doors in 2006, there was much disagreement locally what the site should be used for. Eventually, vandalism and a fire in 2012 forced the Council to completely demolish the building in 2014. Granting developers permission to build much needed new housing in this growing, thriving area.
Anchor House
Now in the final stages of construction, the resulting development, aptly named Anchor House, is a stunning, bright, modern edifice that sits well within the local plans to redevelop the square.
The four story building contains 46 two bedroomed flats and one single bedroom flat and offers perfect
starter accommodation for young people who want to get a foot on the property ladder.
Lumidor
Asked to supply Steeldor’s for emergency exits, Lumidor’s steel profile doors for resident access, as well as louvred doors for the utility spaces. Strongdor worked with local Essex contractors Amo Services, who installed all the doors on site.
The louvred and steel doors were supplied with standard door furniture, while the profile doors required a specialist electronic locking as part of the resident access system.
The lesson sport teaches is that endurance, consistency and hard work is always a catalyst for positive transformation. So while the old leisure centre may well be gone. Consigned to the pages of local history blogs. It's good to see that this development practically demonstrates that learning.
