Steeldor - Cambridge Cycle Point
There may well be 9 million cycles in Beijing, but now in Cambridge at least 3,000 cycle commuters are starting to benefit from the opening of a state-of-the-art cycle park.
Cycle-Point is located close to the main railway station to encourage the cycle-mad city’s pedallers to let the train take the strain. Confident that they have left their wheels in a safe and secure environment.
20 years on from when the idea was first discussed, the facility is thought to be one of the biggest in the UK.
Costing £2.5m to construct, and open 24 hours a day it has more than quadrupled existing capacity for bike parking in the centre of the city.
Working with Total Property Support Services Ltd., Strongdor supplied Steeldor emergency exit and personnel doors to help secure sensitive areas of the site. Easy to install and maintain, Steeldor offers the kind of quality that both fitters and facility managers appreciate.
The cycle park is also proving popular with local cycling groups, who say that this landmark provision has put Cambridge way ahead of other cities.
