How Do I Know If My Fire Door Is Compliant?
When a fire breaks out, every second matters and knowing if you fire door is compliant can save lives. At Strongdor, we always aim to make life easier for everyone by pointing you in the right direction.
How Do I know if my Strongdor door is Fire Compliant?
Fire-rated doors provide a barrier to slow the spread of fire. To check if your Strongdor is fire compliant, you can do this via the ID label supplied with every doorset.
Every unique ID label will showcase the performance and compliance of the door to help our customers feel assured with what they are installing. These labels are located within the hinge jamb and will look similar to the example below:

1. Door Type - This typically defines the door’s standard configuration, indicating whether it is a fire door, panic door, internal door, or external door.
2. Certification Markings (e.g. UKCA or CE) - This area will show what certification is covered by your doorset.
3. Testing & Constancy of Performance Evidence - This identifies the notified body that issued the certification, along with the certificate number used to track your doorset. The top number represents the certification body, while the bottom number is the unique certificate reference. All certificate numbers can be searched on the Strongdor website, allowing you to download documentation and specify your steel fire door with complete confidence.
4. Harmonised Standard - This example shows EN 16034:2014, the harmonised product standard for fire-resisting and smoke-control doorsets. For external doors, this standard must be used in conjunction with EN 14351-1, which covers the performance requirements for external pedestrian doorsets, including weather resistance, wind load, and thermal performance. Together, EN 16034 and EN 14351-1 demonstrate that the doorset has been tested for both fire resistance and external performance, allowing it to be CE or UKCA marked as a compliant external fire-rated doorset.
5. Fire Performance - The final important indicator on our door ID label is the fire performance classification. Fire resistance is classified according to European fire testing standards and is typically expressed using ratings such as E, EW, or EI₂, followed by the duration in minutes (for example E30, EW60, or EI₂30).
E (Integrity) – Prevents flames and hot gases from passing through the door.
EW (Integrity and Radiation Control) – Prevents flames and limits the amount of heat radiation passing through the door.
EI₂ (Integrity and Insulation) – Prevents flames and significantly limits heat transfer to the non-fire side of the door.
These classifications confirm that the doorset has been tested and certified to provide fire resistance for the specified period
