Strongdor recently welcomed a group of Designing Out Crime Officers (DOCOs) for a day of insight into bespoke steel door manufacturing, certification, and standards. The visit included the in-person debut of Strongdor’s RIBA-approved CPD, delivered by Paul Driscoll and Emily Ward. The CPD session covered the detailed process of manufacturing and testing fire-rated steel doors, including the importance of dual certification and third-party validation.
Interactive Learning and Product Demonstrations
The event moved beyond the classroom as attendees engaged in informal activities, including a buzz-wire challenge hosted by Jamie Rodgers. Guests also enjoyed catering provided by local supplier Compass & Co., which brought a relaxed and friendly tone to the day.
Spotlight on LPS 1673 – A New Standard in Security Doors
In the afternoon, focus shifted to steel security doors and certification standards, most notably the new LPS 1673. Still relatively new to the market, LPS 1673 sets a benchmark for attack-rated protection and is especially relevant in high-risk environments. DOCOs were introduced to the context and applications of this standard, with the opportunity to see the strength and construction of these doors up close.
