Understanding Fire Resistant Classifications

Integrity (E)

❌ No Flames ✔ Heat

An integrity classification represents how long it takes for flames to pass through from the fire exposed side of your door to the unexposed side. This classification will not avert heat from transferring through your door but will offer protection from flames.

Radiation (EW)

❌ No Flames ➖ Heat Reduction

A radiation classification maintains all performance points from integrity, however, it will also provide some heat resistance. The number after your EW rating (e.g. EW60), indicates the tested time your door kept the radiant heat transfer on the unexposed side below 15kW/m2.

Insulation (EI)

❌ No Flames ❌ No Heat

This classification offers the highest level of protection against fire. Again, EI maintains all performance points from integrity (E) but also prevents greater heat from transferring to the unexposed side. When it comes to insulation, it is always classified with integrity (e.g E120/EI 260).
